    China Jiliang University Delegation Visits Universities in Sweden and the UK

    From December 8 to 15, Yu Xiaoping, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of China Jiliang University (CJLU), led a six-member delegation on inter-university exchange visits to higher education institutions in Sweden and the United Kingdom. The delegation comprised heads of the Student Work Department, the Retired Personnel Affairs Office, the College of Metrology and Testing Engineering, the College of Economics and Management, and the China Jiliang University College of Modern Science and Technology. The visit aimed to discuss cooperative research, faculty and student exchanges and cooperative education programs with the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), exchange the second-round agreement for the "3+1" undergraduate cooperative education program in Financial Engineering with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) of the UK, visit CJLU students pursuing studies at ARU, and sit in on on-site teaching sessions. This exchange advanced cooperation between CJLU and universities in Sweden and the UK in student exchanges, faculty exchanges and scientific research.

    On December 9 and 10, the delegation traveled to Uppsala, Sweden, to visit the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), a university ranked among the top 3 globally in agriculture and animal science. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Yu and the delegation held talks with Karin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of SLU, and other representatives, where they discussed cooperative education programs in bioengineering and international agricultural trade and reached preliminary cooperation intentions. The delegation also conducted research exchanges with the teams of Professor Anna and Professor Sun Chuanxin from SLU’s College of Biosciences, visited the two professors’ specialized laboratories and greenhouses, and inspected the university’s veterinary medicine discipline and animal hospital, reaching cooperation intentions on research projects and faculty exchanges.

    From December 11 to 14, the delegation visited Anglia Ruskin University in the UK. At ARU’s Cambridge campus, the delegation held discussions with Jacqui, Head of the International Office, and Simon, Deputy Head of the International Office, on the first phase of the "3+1" undergraduate cooperative education program in Financial Engineering, and negotiated the second round of the program. At ARU’s Chelmsford campus, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Yu and Gary, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Anglia Ruskin University, exchanged the second-round agreement for the "3+1" undergraduate cooperative education program in Financial Engineering, further advancing the cooperative education initiative. On the same day, the delegation also sat in on classes and held a discussion with CJLU students on the Financial Engineering program at ARU, to learn about their academic progress and daily life in the UK.

                   

    On December 15, the delegation successfully concluded the overseas visit and returned to China. Delegation members will report back to the university on the cooperation intentions regarding cooperative education, scientific research and faculty and student exchanges, and actively promote cooperation and exchanges between CJLU and universities in Sweden and the UK, so as to boost the university’s international education and research development.
